Love to watch Adam movies except this one. He whines too much.

I postponed watching this movie after reading about it’s harrowing action-filled pace and negative subject matter. During the year of Covid I didn’t want to risk my mental health by watching anything but romances or comedies. If you are ready for a dark story centering around mostly unpleasant characters, you may appreciate this as much as I did. The movie succeeds very well and stands out way above other films of this genre.

It’s stressful. The entire movie. At first I hated it. Then I admired it that it could make me feel so tense. Now I love rewatching it

I really truly enjoyed this film, I thought that the characters were interesting and the plot had me glued to having to watch the ending. It’s not like there’s all this “goofy or stupid/silly” characters in it like a few reviews I read, it’s more of a drama that focuses on the life of a New York jeweler who has a serious gambling addiction, if you’ve ever been addicted to anything no matter what it is or is close to home I say you’d probably enjoy the film, but I am admittedly partial to Sandler of course with my age group being in my mid thirties, religiously watching SNL throughout the 90s and buying his hilarious musical albums he released.

At first I was like ‘I can’t stand this movie’ later about the end of the movie I realized the emotional roller coaster it took me on! It was nothing less than perfect, movie is a work of art!
  • Annoying

Adams is really annoying when he yells. His girlfriend is the best part of the movie. The relationship doesn’t seem realistic tho.
  • Does the horrible music stop?

I quit watching after five minutes because the awful soundtrack makes it impossible to hear the dialogue. All I wanted was to tell someone to turn that crap down. Someone let me know if the music stops so I can continue watching. As far as I can tell, this tops the list of worst investments I have made.
  • Good but..........

I liked this movie. Adam Sandler’s best work. But........the music was way way too much. In some places. Too loud. In places where we needed to hear the dialogue. Very frustrating. The one actor, (Keith Williams) who played one of the rough guys to Sandler is really good. It’s his first real part in a movie. Amazing. They literally found him just walking down a street in NYC! Amazing.
