Their creation has taken on a horrifying life of its own ... able to mimic and destroy its every predator -- even man! A stylish, acclaimed hit featuring riveting performances from a superb cast, MIMIC delivers heart-pounding thrills that never let up!

  • slime encrusted gem of a movie

Here's the thing - I'd never seen Mimic - somehow was never a big Argento fan, but this shifted things quite a bit for me. It's well thought out, preposterous, of course, but perfectly designed to pull you in and scare the crap out of you. It's clearly indebted to Alien, Them, and the brilliant invention of David Cronenberg, but it holds its own. Fantastic production and art design, fine script, excellent acting, masterful directing, and overall, totally squishy disgusting chittering cockroach-swarming cover-your-head-with-the-popcorn-bucket cinematic fun. With a heart. Or two. And eight legs.
  • Great!

This movie is similar to Alien, except the characters fight giant bugs. So if you liked Alien, then Mimic is worth seeing at least once.
  • Haven’t seen the director’s cut yet

I don’t know if the director’s cut is much different, but Mimic is one of my favorite horror monster movies from the 90s. It’s creepy and well-made. Some really good action sequences. If you’re into monster movies, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Plus, it’s Guillermo del Toro.

  • Underrated, A Great Little Film

Just wanted to put a plug in for this one. Not for the insectophobes among us, and other than a couple of "saw it coming" situations to tug on our heartstrings, this is a solid film in the sci-fi genre. I am surprised more people haven't seen this one. My husband liked it more than I did (anything with wings or that flutters at me freaks me out), but it does have some good acting, and holds your attention. There was also a so-so sequel, more of the same and less quality acting, but overall not a bad film to play late at night . . . when you're all alone! 6 thumbs up . . . or are those really thumbs?
