The first cartoon to be created after the long running PTA-thought-up United States law that cartoons could not be created specifically to sell toys had been overturned - and of course about a gazillion others would immediately follow in its wake - this one came out at the exact same time I was startimg my freshman year in high school. And I hated it. The fact that it was deliberately created as a great big 30-minute advertisement annoyed me to no end. And the TOYS! Those things were EVERYWHERE! All over TV, all over the newspapers, all over the stores, all over EVERYTHING! I HATED IT! It drove me NUTS! So why then did I, of all people, suddenly PURCHASE this crazy set? Well... it's kind of difficult to explain but - believe it or not - now that it's been absent from public view for basically over a quarter century, now that its connected merchandise is no longer around, now that all the craziness and hype has vanished, and ESPECIALLY now that this show is no longer being used to sell the toys... ...well... now it actually comes across as entertaining to watch, and is a touching reminder of a long past decade which I miss dearly. The 80s were truly a special time. Yes, it's silly. Very much so, and does inspire some laughs even if some of the humor is unintentional. He-Man still inspires snickers (how could he not with a name like that?). Skeletor's voice is every bit as hilarious as ever. But it's now a special memory-awakening relic of the 80s that feels innocent and... can it be? ...quaint. It feels weird recommending it now, but... yeah. Give it another try. It's not only not annoying anymore, it's actually kind of comforting now for those of us who miss the 80s.

Super happy the COMPLETE He-Man and the Masters of the Universe collection is available on iTunes at a REASONABLE price! I loved watching He-Man and it’s sequel She-Ra as a kid in the 80’s and was super happy to find when re-watching them as an adult that both series had stood the test of time as well-written action packed stories with great characters and great positive messages! He-Man himself is a great and positive role model for young boys, which is great when watching it with my own kids! Picture and sound quality are great and this collection even includes the She-Ra/He-Man movie “Secret of the Sword”, the Christmas special movie, AND an hour long movie that details the making of the series! AWESOME! Now I have the power on the go! Thanks iTunes!

I remember seeing this cartoon as a child. I remember seeing this though out of order as USA network ran the episodes in syndication. So I never saw them in order until I got this set. The only thing that I wish is that the documentary that describes he-man and the spinoff series of the Princess of power, the documentary of the definitive he-man and the Masters of the universe had descriptive audio for those of us who cannot see the body movements or paper drawings or sketches. Other than that, this is a perfect catch.

Ever since I was a child four decades ago I’ve been influenced by the Holy Spirit evoked from He-man and the Masters of the Universe. Highly recommended and liked.
  • Does not include the very first episode.
