Description

We begin season 2 with a King frustrated at every turn by the Vatican in his bid to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon in order to marry the younger Anne Boleyn. The reasons, indeed necessity, for this step are multiple, but they center on one unshakable ambition: to father a son and heir to the Tudor dynasty inherited by Henry from his father. Without a son, this lineage, for which he has such ambitions, will die with him. But this desire alone is not the whole story. Inspired by the reformist zeal of a disgruntled German theologian named Martin Luther, Henry takes on the Catholic Church and launches a savage and ultimately bloody bid to be master of his own spiritual as well as secular destiny. The English Reformation brings together the personal and political ambitions of a Royal revolutionary.

That last episode alone made exchanging this series for sleep worth the trouble. Natalie Dormer just…wow. She became Anne Boleyn, especially at the end. Jeremy Norton's Thomas More was incredible as well. I've seen up to Anne of Cleaves in season 3, and both Dormer and Norton are greatly missed. It's still good, but not nearly as mesmerizing.

While the show is stunning and simply amazing in every way, and many complain over the historical incorrect things, let me say it's for entertainment not for teaching history. Given I am a King Henry the VII nut I'd say it's for the most part correct on history, but this isn't about the historical content. LOVE the show down to the locations stunning really. Sad to lose Natalie (Anne) but the show must go on. I'd advise buy all 4 seasons and watching this amazing drama.

When does season 3 start, I can't wait. This show has fabulous actors and is done so well. A nonfiction/fiction story line with interest. Buy the past 2 seasons, you will be hooked from the very first show.

Historically incorrect. But still very entertaining. We are hooked in Brasil. So where is season 3? Why the delay?
