“Dunkirk” opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.

Many people go into war movies expecting epic battles, blood and guts, etc. However, read a memoir of a combat veteran abd often you'll hear about the psychological effects of war. The waiting, the anxiety, the uncertainty. This beautifully shot film explored this masterfully. This serves as a litmus test for true film fans.
Watched because Harry Styles was in it, Chris Nolan did not disappoint

An amazing movie
I’m not going to spoil it but it was a great movie you should definitely watch. the amazing 4K imax cinematography and just a good overall story.
This is not a WAR film as you’d think. It’s almost more of a psychological thriller idea. It’s very good and you’ll either love it or hate. I think it’s a very well done film and is worth seeing
We need more movies like this!!
This movie isn’t for the average audience. If you appreciate cinema as an art form this movie is for you. Christopher Nolan is an amazing director. I’d put him with tarantino as my 2 favorite writers/Directors. The special features have great amounts of the actual history of Dunkirk. I’m surprised this wasn’t a topic in school. But anyway. Watch this movie and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
A pathetic anti-hero, low budget TV series type war movie, that is an insult both to the audience but to any veteran anywhere. The only highlight was the Spitfire footage, but that can't even increase its rating from below "0" stars. If Saving Private Ryan is a 10+, this is a movie that should have been aborted before completion. Tedious, stupid and moronic!!!
93% is not what this movie should have gotten on rotten tomatoes, but rather a historical inaccuracy percent.

I don’t understand all the 1 star reviews on this movie. Sure, they might’ve cropped the IMAX ratio. And yes, there was little to no character development throughout the entirety of the movie. But it was overall very incredible. It shows the terror of war without going outside its PG-13 boundaries (even though 4 f-words was more than I expected). I watched this is in IMAX and just recently watched this at home in 4K and it is still visually fantastic. I recommend you buying this movie. Not the best war movie I’ve ever seen (mostly because Saving Private Ryan is a pretty hard movie to beat), but it’s definitely worth watching.
