Visionary filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly … reducing their entire lives into a single day. The film stars an impressive international cast including Golden Globe winner Gael García Bernal (Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle), Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread), Rufus Sewell (Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle), Ken Leung (Star Wars: Episode VII--The Force Awakens), Nikki Amuka-Bird (Jupiter Ascending), Abbey Lee (HBO’s Lovecraft Country), Aaron Pierre (Syfy’s Krypton), Alex Wolff (Hereditary), Embeth Davidtz (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Eliza Scanlen (Little Women), Emun Elliott (Star Wars: Episode VII--The Force Awakens), Kathleen Chalfant (Showtime’s The Affair) and Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit). Old is a Blinding Edge Pictures production, directed and produced by M. Night Shyamalan, from his screenplay based on the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters. The film is also produced by Ashwin Rajan (Glass, AppleTV+’s Servant) and Marc Bienstock (Glass, Split). The film’s executive producer is Steven Schneider.

I really enjoyed this movie. I don’t care what anyone else says! Glad I bought it vs. rent it.
  • I wanted it to be good. It wasn’t.

Huge fan of M. Knight Shyamalan, so this one hurts. Terrible dialogue and the acting suffered a bit as a result. This movie had such a tremendous initial concept, and then it just fell flat on its face. When you’re hoping that all of that characters die as soon as possible so you can get on with your life, the movie hasn’t done it’s most basic job....tell an engaging story.

The best worst film of the year. Great acting, cinematography, sound design and music. But the writing and editing are horrible. The special effects are weak and the twist is like a punchline to the entire movie. Skip if you want a genuine scare, but watch if you want to laugh at movie with friends.

Was ok. Not nearly the genius that Split was, but a decent brainless watch. Worthy of 3/5 stars but I wouldn’t pay 20 bucks to watch.
  • Not worth the watch

Directing style is obnoxious. The camera will pan and sway while the film blurs and it is hard to watch just because of this; however, the writing is also just bad. The movie has a mediocre plot twist but the way it is presented is poor. Bad writing and bad directing. Acting is hit or miss.
